The Hudson River Park is an organisation set up by the New York State. Besides being responsible for operating and maintaining new parks, they organise various events. One of them is their annual Blues BBQ Festival. Here are the details of the event happening in August!
Manhattan, Get Ready For Blues BBQ Festival!
On Saturday, August 19th, the annual Blues BBQ Festival, which is free and lasts all day, will take place at Pier 76 in Hudson River Park. The best barbecue restaurants in the area will serve up their best specialities. The list includes Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Blue Smoke, vegan restaurant Pure Grit, Kimchi Smoke Barbeque, Dickson’s Butcher, Jase’s BBQ, Big Papa Smokem, and Mighty Quinn’s. Lagunitas Brewing Company and Vermont Cider Company will be serving chilled beverages.
Additionally, there will be non-stop live blues performances to keep you entertained as you wait in the queue and eat. Delphine Blue, a radio personality for WFUV, will introduce the lineup of renowned blues performers for the occasion. Participating artists include Danielle Ponder, John Primer & The Real Deal Blues Band, Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas, Diunna Greenleaf, Selwyn Birchwood, and more.

Free Food, Music And A Day Of Fun-Filled Activities
The Jazz Foundation of America will curate a second stage that will feature more personal performances for the first time. Jazz legends Beareather Reddy, Cedric “Catfish” Turner & Keith “The Captain” Gamble, Jonathan Kalb, and American piano prodigy Danny Mixon are among the performers who will perform at the festival. In fact, Ed Cherry & Marvin Sewell and Jonathan Kalb are also scheduled to perform.
Noreen Doyle, President and CEO of Hudson River Park Trust, stated that the festival has been a highlight for more than 20 years. And people who love bbq food and blues music have been planning their August calendars according to the festival dates.
He further pointed out that the Manhattan waterfront will once again play host to this renowned event this year. And they will deliver an all-star lineup of artists and grill masters, this time on two stages. They are pleased to keep introducing their community to the wide variety of this American musical style.
The first Blues BBQ took place in 1999, and it has since grown to become New York’s longest-running free blues festival. Additionally, Hudson River Park will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2023.

To commemorate this occasion, more than 400 events are scheduled for this year in Manhattan’s West Side.
