Netflix’s thriller show ‘Killer Soup’ created quite a buzz on the Internet! It was for two reasons, one was its killer marketing strategies before the show launched followed by its gripping storyline and black comedy. The lead actors Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for a Sunday Brunch episode. Read on to learn about our guests’ favourite food items from their co-star’s region.
These Are Manoj Bajpayee’s Favourite Bengali Dishes
Konkona is a Bengali from West Bengal and Manoj hails from Bihar. While they belong to neighbouring states of India, the food is similar yet vastly different. The cultures, traditions and culinary techniques in Bengal and Bihar have mingled over hundreds of generations. This provided the residents with lip-smacking good food that was identical yet distinct from its origin.
Both actors are aware of this exchange of cultures. So, we were delighted to talk about Bihari and Bengali cuisine with our guests. Kamiya asked them whether they had relished the other cuisines. In this case, Bengali food for Manoj and Bihari food for Konkona.
Manoj Bajpayee said, “Kosha Mangsho is something that I know and it is a favourite of mine. Aloo Ghost, I just love the way Bengali cook it! Sorshe maach, bhetki, all of it. I love it!” Being massive foodies, we can’t contain our cravings by just listening to him talk at length about his favourite Bengali dishes! *drool coming in 3..2..1..*
What he said next was an ideal excuse to plan a trip to Kolkata! He said, “Whenever I am in Calcutta, it is kind of a food feast for me!” Same, Manoj, same.

Now, it was time for Konkona to reveal the Bihari dishes she tried. The actor answered that Manoj is a great cook and would bring or rather cook Bihari Mutton, Yakhni Pulao, Mutton Khada Masala, Bhuna Gosht and more on the sets of their Netflix show.
She assured us that he could whip up a lot of delectable food items. However, the above-mentioned dishes are his specialities. We were astonished to hear this as Manoj has been on Curly Tales multiple times. And we are yet to enjoy a scrumptious meal consisting of Bihari Mutton made by him!
