Now that India’s most popular foods and drinks list is out by Taste Atlas, it’s not surprise that Masala Chai is the ultimate winner. This milk tea made with a mixture of ground cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black peppercorn and ginger, is soothing and aromatic. It’s one of the most popular and staple beverages in the country, prepared everywhere. From street food stalls, homes to even fancy restaurants, you get Masala Chai everywhere.
Butter Garlic Naan is tied with chai and it’s a delicious bread that’s dunked and enjoyed with Indian gravies. The third spot is taken by Garam Masala, a spice mix that’s spicy and adds the X-factor to our curries. And the 4th spot goes to Lassi a sweet yoghurt-based drink, a popular summer cooler in North India. The 5th and 6th places go to naan and Butter Chicken respectively, quite a match made in heaven.
