Recently, the emirate of Abu Dhabi has been focusing a lot on promoting family life to improve the quality of life. And staying true to its vision, it has now announced an extension of maternity leave for citizens who work in the private sector. Yes, the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority has announced that maternity leave support for women who are in the private sector will be increased to 90 days.
Maternity Leave For Emirati Women In Pvt Sector Extended
As a part of the recently launched Emirate Family Growth Support Programme by the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority has announced the extension of the maternity leave for citizens in the private sector to 90 days. Moreover, Emirati mothers who are working in the private sector will now have an increased duration of paid maternity leave. This initiative aims to allow these mothers in the private sector to apply for financial support. As such, it is complimentary to their salary during the paid maternity leave of up to 90 days. Yes, this can be obtained after the approval of their private-sector employer. As it happens, it aims to serve as supplementary support for the mother’s salary and is in line with the practises that are followed in the public sector.

How Will This Be Beneficial?
It should be noted that this initiative aims to enable mothers who work in the private sector to balance caring for their newborn as well as work responsibilities. Not to mention, this is bound to ensure that infants receive the optimum care and support. Yes, this is required for healthy growth and development. It’s worth noting that the new service is available to Emirati mothers who are working in the private sector. However, if a person wishes to qualify for the service, they must apply within the first 30 days of the baby’s delivery and must provide a valid salary certificate and their bank account details. In fact, the child’s birth date must be born on or after September 1, 2024.
