McDonald’s IVF Theory Goes Viral: Can Fries Really Help With Pregnancy? Here’s The Truth

Social media is always buzzing with theories and trends. One such theory now doing the rounds is that McDonald’s fries can increase a woman’s chances of getting pregnant during IVF. Bizarre, right? Let’s see how true this latest claim really is.

As per the report in HT, a new theory is buzzing online. According to this theory, eating McDonald’s fries might help boost IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) success and increase the chances of pregnancy. It claims that consuming salty fries after an embryo transfer (one of the key stages of IVF) can help with implantation. Unbelievable, right? Some even believe eating fries after egg extraction might reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which is a common side effect of IVF.

However, Dr James Hopkisson, an expert and medical director at TFP Fertility in the UK, has dismissed these claims. He said there is no scientific proof behind this theory. It might satisfy cravings, but it has no real link with IVF success. He also warned against blindly trusting such social media trends and theories.

Doctors Recommend A Balanced Diet, Not Fries

Dr Hopkisson advised IVF patients to stick to a healthy, balanced diet during and after IVF treatment. He also emphasised the importance of following your doctor’s advice rather than blindly following viral fads. As per HT and the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK, several key factors impact IVF outcomes. These include the condition of the embryo, the health of the uterus, and the age of the mother.

Moreover, it is also recommended to lead a normal, stress-free life after embryo transfer. There is no need to rely on trendy diets or supplements as well.  Apart from the McDonald’s fries pregnancy theory, other so-called implantation diets also keep trending online. But there is no solid scientific proof to show how they affect the outcome of the IVF procedure. That is why doctors strongly suggest sticking to medical advice and a good diet. Plus, they also advise patients to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and too much caffeine during the procedure.
