It’s been seven years since Medha Shankr landed in Mumbai and made it her home. She fell in love with this city within a week of relocating here and even believed herself to be a true Mumbaikar! The ‘12th Fail’ actor joined Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, on this delightful episode of Sunday Brunch to talk about Bollywood, Mumbai vs. Delhi food, audition days and more. We also discussed her exciting life in Mumbai and learnt about all the touristy things she has done so far.
As A True Mumbaikar, Medha Shankr Has Done These Touristy Activities
Mumbai’s moniker, City of Dreams, is quite apt! Thousands of people pack their whole lives into suitcases and set foot in Mumbai to make a name for themselves. This is exactly what the gorgeous actor Medha Shankr did, around seven years ago! Along with her father, she moved to the financial capital of India from Delhi.
Popularly known for her portrayal of Shraddha Joshi in the film ‘12th Fail’, she now calls herself a proud ‘Mumbai chi mulgi’. Kamiya was curious to learn whether this Delhiite ever ticked off some touristy stuff here. To our surprise, she has done most of the OG Mumbai-related activities!
Medha spoke about frequently visiting Marine Drive and Bachelorr’s, her core memory spots in Mumbai. She is madly in love with strawberry cream and sitaphal ice cream! It is almost like a ritual to indulge in these treats at Marine Drive or Bachelorr’s. This is truly a quintessential Mumbaikar experience.
For true touristy vibes, she has even clicked a picture at the iconic Gateway of India, enjoyed a kala khatta and phalse (Indian Sherbet berry) at Juhu Chowpatty and took a kali peeli to travel in Mumbai. However, she has yet to do a darshan of the magnificent Lalbaugcha Raja during the Ganesh Chaturthi!
She Was Surprised By NMIMS’s College Canteen
Continuing on the same topic, Medha Shankr revealed that she has relished the popular vada pav from Anand Vada Pav and another eatery in Vile Parle. The actor was quite impressed with this Mumbaiya street food. Additionally, she also spoke about Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies’s (NMIMS) massive canteen.
She recalled relishing their appetising vada pav and was surprised at its elaborate menu. Medha mentioned, “They have fried momo and whatnot. I was like, What is this college, guys? I love it! Yeah, the vada pav was crazy.” Upon hearing this, Kamiya agreed that NMIMS’s canteen serves delicious food to its students.
