1. Mumbai Metro 2A & 7 Services Extended For Navratri

MMRDA informed that there will be 14 additional metro services between 10:30pm to 12:20am on 2A and 7 (Gundavali-Dahisar-Andheri West). This will be effective from October 19 to October 23. With this extension, 14 trips will be added to the group with a 15-minute headway between two trains. This will surely bring great relief to all the garba lovers. CM Shinde has decided to change the availability to 267 trips on weekdays, 252 on Saturdays, and 219 on Sundays. 

2. Pune Metro Services Suspended Thrice In The Past Fortnight Alone

For a while now, Pune’s metro services have experienced frequent power and technical outages. Metro services have been interrupted three times in the last two weeks alone due to this. Metro officials assert that the issue will be rectified in a month, notwithstanding the difficulties commuters are already experiencing. Friday’s power outage caused the metro service between Vanaz and Ruby Hall Clinic to stop running around 10.30 am, which inconvenienced commuters.

3. Fold Your Bicycles And Keep Them In Bengaluru Metro And Avoid Traffic Congestion

Bengalureans are actually coming up with extremely innovative ideas to make commuting a bit easier. The recent one shows how one can use foldable bicycles. You can simply fold these bicycles and carry them with you on the Namma metro. After getting off, you can use them to ride to your destination and avoid the heavy traffic congestion that the city is known for. An entrepreneur posted pictures of the same on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). 

4. RITES Announces Tricity Metro Construction To Begin March 2024

The Tri City region, which includes Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali, has been announced by Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) to begin building a metro system in March of next year. To finish the alternative analysis report (AAR) in detail, the agency is working. The Metro project, whose first phase spans Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali/New Chandigarh, is intended to address the region’s long-standing traffic congestion problems.

5. Corridor-05 Of Chennai Metro Phase:02 To Soon Have 5 Underground Stations

Five underground stations will be built by CMRL and TATA Projects as part of Chennai Metro Phase 2’s Corridor-05. The contract is for Rs 1817.54 crore. Tasks including entry and exit gates, ventilation shafts, plumbing, earth mats, architectural finishes, signs, etc. are all included in the scope of work.

6. Kolkata Metro’s Joka-Taratala Line Is All Set For Extension

In a bid to revolutionise Kolkata’s connectivity, the Joka-Taratala line will be extended to Majerhat. This means that now, instead of waiting for 40 minutes for the next metro, commuters can expect trains to run at an interval of 10 minutes. Siemens is also working on upgrading the stretch with an electronic interlocking (EI) signalling system. Besides this, in November, EI will be installed in the brand-new 2km Taratala-Majerhat section. The launch of Majerhat metro station will be a pre-puja gift for the citizens.
