Creepy Doll Island In Mexico
Isla de las Mucenas, or the Island of Dolls, is located near Mexico City in the canals of Xochimilco. If you go by the popular legends, this creepy island is haunted by the spirit of a young girl. This girl is believed to have drowned off a small island hidden deep in the canals.
A hermit named Don Julian Santana Barrera was the only inhabitant here who chose to live here despite having children and a wife. In 2001, this hermit was found drowned exactly at the same place where the young girl had died.
The locals believe that Don Julian Santana Barrera has joined the group of other spirits that already exist on the island. They believe that the island is possesed . After the death of the hermit, this place became a tourist destination, and visitors would bring more dolls.

Story Behind The Hanging Dolls On Trees
The legend explains that Don Julian Santana Barrera heard the screams of the young girl who drowned here. The girl screamed that she wanted her doll. He later found a doll near that area and hung it up on the tree nearby as a gift to the girl.
Later, Barrera found many more dolls on the island near Mexico, almost every day. He began hanging them on the trees, believing that doing so would save him from the evil spirit. Most of these dolls had some or all of their body parts missing. Some would not have limbs, some would not have their legs; and some would have their heads missing.
The creepiest part is that even if the dolls arrived in good condition, the weather and wind would ruin them. Don Julian Santana Barrera lived here for 50 years. (As per The Times Of India)
