Someone who loves to travel will eventually find a way to explore all the destinations that they wish to travel to in some way or the other. And a great example of this is Salam Amas, who is working as a driver in Dubai. An Indian expat from Thanoor in Malappuram, he has travelled to 13 countries and eight islands with hardly any savings. Here’s all you need to know about his incredible travel journey.

The Story Of This Malayali Driver In Dubai

Salam Amas moved to Kuwait to support his family back in 2002. All he wanted to do was support his family, as mentioned in a report by Onmanorama. And after a lot of hardships, he learnt to drive and then switched to a better profession, once he had obtained his driving license. Previously, he worked as a driver in Kuwait for three years. After this, he moved to the UAE in 2005!

He Has Travelled To 13 Countries!

Once he secured a job with a private company, he has been working with them for the past 18 years. It was, however, the Dubai Expo 2020, which was organised in 2021, that encouraged him to visit the different countries around the world. As he walked through the different pavilions of the country, he was motivated to visit them. And so he began his journey! He drove to the GCC countries of Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. And now he has visited 13 countries and eight islands. All of these have happened in the last four years. He has been to the following destinations:

  • Kenya
  • Azerbaijan
  • Tanzania
  • Uzbekistan
  • Seychelles
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Iran
  • Kish
  • Kim
  • Ledigu
  • Mahe
  • Praslin
  • Dar es Salaam
  • Zanzibar
  • Kilimanjaro

How Does He Fund His Trips?

Often travelling with friends, it was, however, his trip to Tanzania and Kenya that was absolutely memorable. But the next question that arises is how he manages his expenses? Well, Salam says that he works additional shifts to earn extra money. And so he uses them to cover for the trips.
