Dubai Airport has given the control tower a fresh design, wrapping it in the colours of the UAE flag and making it far more visible than just an operations building. For the millions of travellers moving through the airport every year, it has become a huge reminder of where they are arriving, leaving, or simply passing through.
DXB’s Air Traffic Control Tower Gets A UAE Flag Makeover Visible To Millions
To mark the occasion, Dubai Airports held a ceremony on the airside of the airport with the newly redesigned tower in the background.
There was a parade by the Dubai Police. Senior airport leaders attended, and so did staff members and partners who help keep the airport running every hour of the day and night.

It was also about recognising the thousands of people behind the scenes who make sure flights leave on time, passengers move through terminals and aircraft get where they need to be safely. For many travellers, those teams remain invisible. But airports don’t run themselves.

The Tower Has Watched Dubai Grow For Decades
Dubai’s aviation story started with a single runway back in 1960. DXB has grown into one of the busiest international airports anywhere in the world, handling huge numbers of passengers and flights every single day.
Sitting in the middle of all that activity is the airport’s 89-metre air traffic control tower, which has operated in its expanded form since 2000.
From there, controllers oversee aircraft movements across the airport and help coordinate the constant stream of arrivals and departures.
Thousands of decisions are made from inside that tower every day. Most passengers will never think about it while waiting for coffee or boarding announcements, but it is one of the most important buildings on the airport grounds.

A Flag Above The Airport And The Teams Below
Dubai Airports says the redesign is meant to reflect national pride while recognising the people and organisations working together behind the scenes.
That includes airlines, safety teams, ground handlers, service providers and the wider oneDXB network.
The UAE flag now sits at the centre of that story, flying above one of the airport’s most important landmarks and greeting travellers from around the world as they pass through Dubai.
