Dubai Police recently honoured Abdulrazzaq bin Zaal bin Jabr Al Ruwaili, a Saudi national. He was given a certificate of thanks and appreciation as a recognition of his bravery and decisive response when this incident occurred. As it happens, Director of the Ports Police Station, Brigadier Dr Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, had been the one to present the certificate, praising this brave samaritan for his effort.

This recognition reflects Dubai Police’s commitment towards encouraging a positive community value and acknowledging individuals for their actions, which contribute towards safety and well-being of others. This is not the first time that the authorities have recognised someone’s effort for their contribution in making the city safer. Just a few months ago, the Dubai Tourist Police awarded a taxi driver as he returned AED10,000 to a tourist at Dubai International Airport right before their flight could depart. His honesty and integrity were recognised by the authorities. This incident occurred when the tourist was rushing to catch his flight and forgot a small bag in the taxi of the man. So, this good samaritan quickly contacted the tourist police department for assistance, and the items were retrieved in time before the tourist could depart.
Similar cases have also come up previously wherein expats and other members of the community are rewarded for their extraordinary services. This recognition spread awareness about timely action and aims to reward people for their quick thinking.
