Recently, there have been a lot of online scams that people must be aware of. And one of the latest scams that has been circulating online happens to be that of fake investment and trading schemes. Dubai Police has warned residents against this growing number of fake schemes as part of their ‘Beware of Fraud’ campaign. Here’s all you need to know about the scams to be aware of.

Dubai Police Warns Against Fake Investment Schemes

Dubai Police has mentioned that scammers are increasingly using social media and digital platforms to promote fake investment opportunities. As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, these often tend to appear as an attractive advertisement or even direct messages. Moreover, they offer quick and guaranteed returns, leaving victims with promises of high profits in a short time. Once a person gets engaged, they are pressured to transfer money urgently or even share their personal and banking details. This is often done through suspicious links, which results in many losing their savings.

What Do These Investment Schemes Do?

So, the Dubai Police has stressed the fact that legitimate investment platforms do not guarantee fixed or risk-free returns. Not to mention, they also do not ask for payments through unofficial or unregulated channels. As a result, residents have been asked to check the credibility and licensing of any investment company with the relevant UAE authorities before they make such financial decisions. Moreover, police have also advised the public to avoid engaging with unknown advertisements or messages. They’ve also been asked to never share their sensitive information on an unverified website.
