Dubai Roads & Transport Authority recently revealed on X that it has launched a new unit to monitor bicycles and e-scooter misuse in Dubai. Yes, this unit is called the Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit, and it would enforce compliance with the rules. This would be on all the city’s cycling tracks, soft mobility zones, and main roads in Dubai, and here’s all you need to know about the development.
Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit Launched By Dubai RTA
The new Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit will begin its operations on Friday, May 1st. This aims to promote safe riding practices and also improve traffic safety for road users. Through the launch of the new mobility unit, unsafe behaviours will be monitored, and they will also be fines for those who breach e-scooter, bicycle, and e-bike rules. As it happens, the unit will be responsible for a number of things.
What Would The Unit Be Responsible For?
It should be noted that the Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit will be responsible for looking after a number of things. These are as follows:
- Designated and soft mobility tracks should be complied with.
- Riders should ensure that they wear helmets and protective gear
- Riders must obey the speed limits
- They will prevent reckless driving
- Tandem riding on electric scooters is prohibited

Unit Will Also Issue Violations
It should be noted that this unit will also issue violations for those who do not comply. They will see their vehicles will be impounded. Moreover, the joint unit will be operating across Dubai, and it would be in line with the Executive Council Resolution No. 13 of 2022, Regulating the Use of Cycles in the Emirate of Dubai.
Through these efforts, several key locations in Dubai come into focus. These include those of Jumeirah Beach track, Business Bay, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Water Canal, Dubai Marina, Al Mankhool, Al Hamriya, Al Raffa, Al Karama, and Al Muraqqabat.
Moreover, it also reflects the authorities’ commitment towards integrating infrastructure plans, which have safe operational requirements and contribute to stronger traffic safety awareness
