Finland Opens The World’s Longest Pedestrian Sea Bridge

Finland always makes sure that we don’t forget to visit, and we’re sure, just like you, you must also be excited to visit the world’s longest pedestrian sea bridge. According to NDTV, Finland’s capital, Helsinki, has opened the Kruunuvuorensilta Bridge, which is now one of the world’s longest pedestrian bridges. It is designed for walkers, cyclists, and public transport only.

What makes this bridge different is that no private cars are allowed. The bridge stretches 1,191 metres across the water and connects the developing waterfront area of Kruunuvuorenranta with Korkeasaari, and further links to central Helsinki.

How This New Sea Bridge Makes A Difference

The other highlight of this pedestrian sea bridge is that it changes how people move across the city. As per NDTV, a journey that once took around 11 km by road is now reduced to nearly 5.5 km using this direct path.

If you’re a traveller and want to explore the city, this bridge offers a scenic way to do it. It connects homes, parks, and cultural places through one long walking and cycling route. Also, people can move around easily without needing cars, taxis, or long public transport.

The design of the Kruunuvuorensilta Bridge will also leave you awestruck. The thin cable-stayed structure is built by Knight Architects. Visitors can see beautiful views of the Baltic Sea, islands, and the Helsinki city skyline. The curved shape makes sunrise and sunset view very special.

This pedestrian sea bridge is built to last nearly 200 years. It is designed to handle harsh marine conditions. It also features colour-changing lighting and wind-protected railings, which make it comfortable even in colder weather.
