1. Dubai Fitness Challenge Returns October 31
Dubai’s month-long fitness push is back for 2026, running October 31 to November 29. The idea hasn’t changed since it launched in 2017: get moving for at least 30 minutes a day, every day, for 30 days. This year leans harder into digital tools to keep participants engaged. Expect the usual crowd-pullers — Dubai Run, Dubai Ride, Dubai Stand Up Paddle, Dubai Yoga, plus pop-up Fitness Villages and Hubs around the city. The challenge has drawn more than 16 million sign-ups since it began.
2. New Bridge Turns A 10-Minute Drive Into Two
A new two-lane bridge near Dubai World Trade Centre opens this Friday, linking traffic from DWTC and One Central straight to the Al Mustaqbal Street, Za’abeel Palace Street junction. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority says the 500-metre crossing will cut that trip from around 10 minutes to just two. It’s one piece of the Dh633 million Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, expected to benefit roughly half a million residents once finished, with corridor travel times eventually dropping from 13 minutes to six.

3. Abu Dhabi Customs Flags A Scam Doing The Rounds
Abu Dhabi Customs is warning residents about messages posing as official communications. The scam claims a shipment is on hold over tariff classification and pushes recipients to pay a fee to release it. The advice is simple: don’t click the link, don’t share banking or personal details, and don’t pay anything. Also, genuine customs business runs only through the authority’s own approved channels.
4. Oman Commits $637 Million To Four New Industrial Cities
Oman’s Madayn is moving ahead with four new industrial cities, in Al Suwaiq, Al Mudhaibi, Thumrait and Madha, spanning roughly 25.5 million square metres combined. The plan sits inside a broader 2026–2030 roadmap backed by more than OMR 245 million (about $637 million), part of Madayn’s wider “Madayn 2040” strategy to grow manufacturing’s share of the economy, draw foreign investment, and back local SMEs. It’s Oman’s latest step toward loosening its reliance on oil.

5. Qatar Opens Legal Training Programme To Government Lawyers
Qatar’s Ministry of Justice, through its Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, has opened a specialised programme for Qatari lawyers in government and semi-government roles. It runs from September 20 to November 12 across three tracks: legislative drafting, litigation follow-up and disciplinary investigations, for candidates with three to eight years of experience. Employers have until August 27 to submit nominations.
