1. Filipino Band Cancels UAE Concerts, Fans Left Disappointed

Filipino pop-rock band, The Itchyworms, have cancelled their concert that was supposed to take place in January 2026. The shows were part of the planned Akin Ka Na Lang Middle East Tour set to take place across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It had gained strong interest from overseas Filipino communities in the UAE. The band cited unforeseen circumstances beyond their control and shared the update via official social media channels, as mentioned by Gulf News. Organisers confirmed that ticket holders will be contacted directly regarding refunds.
2. Dubai Adds New Bus Routes To Ease Rush-Hour Chaos
Dubai Roads and Transport Authority will introduce four new peak-hour bus routes and upgrade more than 70 existing services from January 9. The changes target congestion hotspots and long waits during morning and evening rush hours. Expect route extensions, timetable adjustments, additional bus stops, and a few cancellations as reported by Arabian Business. Commuters can check the updated routes and timings on the S’hail App.
3. Dubai Renters Urged To Get Ejari Right
Dubai Land Department has launched a new public awareness campaign focused on Ejari procedures. It is asking residents to get the process right.
The “Step by Step” drive breaks down lease registration, renewals, rent increase rules, notifications, and non-renewal processes. The aim is to cut disputes by making the process simple for tenants, landlords, and brokers. Ejari registration remains mandatory to activate utilities and other essential services, as mentioned by Gulf News.
4. Heavy Rain Alert Issued Across Parts Of Oman
Travel plans in Oman need to be rescheduled as the Oman Civil Aviation Authority has issued a 48-hour weather warning for Muscat and several surrounding regions.
Authorities have flagged risks of flash floods, flowing wadis, reduced visibility, and dangerous conditions in coastal and mountainous areas. Tourists are advised to avoid low-lying areas, wadis, and outdoor adventures until conditions improve, as reported by Travel and Tour World.

5. Bahrain Rejects Ban On Delivery Bike On Major Roads
Bahrain’s parliamentary committee has rejected a proposal to ban delivery bikes from main roads. Officials said the move would likely backfire with riders shifting their routes through residential streets, making congestion worse.
Authorities also pointed out that many areas can only be accessed via main roads, making enforcement unrealistic, as per News of Bahrain.
