The GCC never takes a break from surprises. Whether you’re craving a buttery lobster roll, planning a trip to Beirut, or following stories of recognition and resilience, plenty is unfolding across the region. Here’s a roundup of GCC Updates you should know this week.
Here’s An Update On What’s Buzzing This Week In The GCC
1. Homer Lobster Meets Jewellery In A Quirky Dubai Collaboration
This August, food and fashion come together in a way that’s anything but ordinary. French favourite Homer Lobster, known for its award-winning lobster rolls, has teamed up with The Charm Bar, the UAE’s first concept dedicated to charm jewellery. The result? Charm & Claw, a summer campaign that turns every meal into a mini treasure hunt.
Every order of the Charm & Claw combo from any of Homer Lobster’s five Dubai outlets comes with a mystery charm from The Charm Bar’s Under the Sea collection. Think fish, shells, claws, and starfish, one theme every week, all rooted in a shared love of craftsmanship and the ocean.
But the real catch? Hidden among them are four rare red lobster claw charms. Find one, and you’ll walk away with a charm bracelet, Homer Lobster gear, and a free meal for two. Keep an eye on your takeaway bag.
2. Quick Action in Sharjah Prevents Warehouse Fire From Escalating
On Tuesday afternoon, a fire broke out in a warehouse in Sharjah’s Industrial Area 5. Fortunately, Civil Defence teams responded quickly, and no injuries were reported.
The call came through at 4:10pm, prompting a joint response from firefighting units, police patrols, and ambulance services. The fire was brought under control without affecting neighbouring properties. Authorities are currently looking into what caused the incident.
3. Thai Farmers Honoured with UAE Golden Visas for Date Palm Innovation
Two Thai entrepreneurs have been awarded the UAE’s prestigious Golden Visa for their work in promoting sustainable farming. Owners of Orawan Farm in Thailand, the pair manage over 5,000 fruit-bearing date palms and have made waves online by educating the world about the health benefits of dates through TikTok.
Their recognition was announced during the Dubai Dates Festival, which celebrates the UAE’s agricultural roots. Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri of Dubai’s GDRFA personally met the recipients, highlighting how international partnerships are shaping the future of Emirati farming.
