The Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced that it has begun work on the Othman Bin Affan Road and King Salman Road development project. Yes, the aim of this project is to improve traffic flow and would include the construction of seven new bridges! RCRC Announce the Commencement Of Road Work
As announced by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, there will be the construction of seven new bridges, along with an upgrade to existing road lanes. This would span 4.3 km. Not to mention, these enhancements will increase the capacity of the corridor so that it can accommodate approximately 5,00,000 vehicles per day. This further strengthens the connectivity between key routes in northern Riyadh.

The scope of work here includes upgrading major intersections, which would be at King Salman Road and Anas bin Malik Road. This would be through an integrated network of bridges. It would range from two to four lanes and would significantly enhance connectivity from the north section to the southern section of the King Salman Road. As it happens, it will obviously reduce travel times and will also improve the overall traffic efficiency in the area.

Temporary Traffic Diversion Announced
For this purpose, a temporary traffic diversion has been introduced on the northern segment of the road. This came into effect on May 21st, as part of the broad traffic management plan. This will be executed into phases, and the divergent plan maintains three lanes in each direction. This also includes comprehensive directional and warning signage. There are also real-time updates across navigation platforms, and they would be launch of dedicated webpage, which would offer continuous updates on the project progress.
So, with this new development taking place, it’s worth mentioning that something is even happening in the KAFD. This includes the enhancement of three major intersections. Moreover, 19 bridges will be constructed during this enhancement project. With the developments targeting some of the most important roads in Riyadh, traffic is bound to see an enhancement when it comes to its flow.
