In a viral video that is circulating on social media, a ride can be seen collapsing at an amusement park in Saudi Arabia’s Taif. This malfunction happened when there were riders aboard, which caused people to sustain injuries. Some people, as per reports of several publications, were seriously injured. Here’s what happened.

Ride Collapses In Taif

As reported by Khaleej Times, the ‘360° Ride’ at Green Mountain Park in Taif malfunctioned with riders aboard. As a result, 23 people sustained injuries, with some even being serious. And as stated in the report, the viral video circulating on social media shows people seated on the popular ride when the central pole snapped in two halves.

What Does The Video Show?

As mentioned in the report, the video shows how people are enjoying the ride as it swings back and forth, when suddenly, the ride’s arm cracked. And so the ride collapsed with a massive thump, while the riders were still in their seats. Many of them sustained injuries, which were from moderate to severe, as revealed in the same report, citing Okaz as a source.

As per the eyewitnesses, the injuries were reported when the ride’s pole recoiled at high speed, which struck individuals on the opposite side. People were also hurt after they fell from the ride while they were still seated. In fact, the Gulf News also mentioned how eyewitnesses described that there were scenes of panic and disbelief when the structure gave way.

Investigation Underway

However, it also mentions how emergency responders were quickly at the spot, including the civil defence teams and paramedics from the Saudi Crescent. They secured the site, and the injured were transported to the nearby hospitals. The amusement park was immediately closed. As such, the General Entertainment Authority and security services have also opened a wide-ranging inquiry.
