The Saudi Heritage Commission has discovered an early Islamic inscription. This was discovered at the site of Dhali’ al-Nis, which is South of Samira governorate in the Hail region. As it happens, this inscription dates back to the first century AH and is located on one of the routes of the Kufan Hajj route. 1st CE Hijri Islamic Inscription Discovered In Hail
As revealed in a report of the Saudi Gazette, the inscription was discovered on one of the routes of the Kufan Hajj route, the Darb Zubayda. This discovery happened as the commission has been undertaking ongoing efforts to preserve the archaeological sites. Moreover, it highlights the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia.

Talking about the inscription that was discovered, it was on the summit of a small mountain. This mountain is on located South of Samira, which is one of the historical stations. Yes, the historical station is associated with Kufan Hajj route. Not to mention, it also reflects the importance of the site as a crossing point for pilgrims throughout history. The report further mentioned that the inscription contains a supplication for forgiveness for a person named Ibrahim ibn Ziyad. There was also a quotation from the end of a verse from Surah Al-Baqarah, which makes it of a faith-based nature.

Text Has Been Inscribed On A Granite Rock
The text has been inscribed on a flat Granite rock. This has been interspersed with quartz veins and reflects the geological formation of the site. Not to mention, it also shows the use of available materials at a time to document such artefacts. This discovery forms a part of the commission’s effort to inventory and document archaeological sites in several regions of the kingdom.
So with the important discovery being made, which dates it back to the first century AH, it truly highlights the pilgrimage history.
