Ras Al Khaimah recently mentioned that barbecue and charcoal fires are now prohibited at Flamingo Beach. As announced by the Public Services Department of the emirate, this restriction has already taken effect from September 10th, 2026. It should be noted that it applies to both burning of charcoal and barbecuing on the beach. The announcement comes just ahead of the outdoor season when cooler months begin allowing people to venture out.
An Increasingly Popular Option During Cooler Months
It’s worth noting that during the cooler months, people look forward to going out for beach gatherings, picnics, and barbecue. And beaches are an increasingly popular option across the UAE for such activities. So, under the new rule, visitors who wish to plan an outing to Flamingo Beach will have to leave their charcoal grills and beach barbecues behind.
As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, the department also mentions how this measure aims to preserve the appearance of the beach. Moreover, it aims to promote public safety. So visitors are urged to cooperate in ensuring that their area is clean and beautiful while ensuring safety for everyone. However, it’s worth noting that so far, no penalties for breaching the restriction have been specified.
Ras Al Khaimah Police Recently Conducted Beach Safety Campaign
This announcement comes weeks after Ras Al Khaimah Police had previously launched a month-long awareness campaign back in May. The campaign aimed to promote beach safety and prevent drowning incidents. The campaign included evening field visits by a specialised team. It was conducted on the beaches of Shaam, Al Mairid, Al Rams, and Ras Al Khaimah. Moreover, police teams provided beach visitors with a range of safety tips and awareness messages so that such risks can be reduced. Key guidelines were also highlighted, such as the importance of parents monitoring their children and preventing them from venturing deep into the waters.
