What started as a normal Friday night near the beach in Sharjah turned chaotic within seconds. A car reportedly lost control near Al Mamzar beach after suffering a brake failure. The vehicle overturned, crashed and then plunged straight into the sea. Not partially but completely. Inside the car was a driver who suddenly found himself trapped underwater with the doors jammed shut. And before emergency crews from Sharjah Police even reached the scene, two nearby residents jumped into the water to try to rescue him.

Two Residents In Sharjah Jumped Into The Sea To Save A Trapped Driver In A Sinking Car

According to Sharjah Police, the impact left the car sealed from the inside while water rose rapidly around the driver.

He reportedly could not open the doors. Breaking the windows also became difficult as the car started sinking deeper into the water. That’s when the two expats nearby stepped in. Without waiting around or thinking twice too long, they jumped into the sea and managed to pull the driver out safely before things got worse. Honestly, it sounds like one of those situations people watch from a distance because of fear or confusion. But these two did the exact opposite.

Police Teams Arrived After The Rescue

Police said emergency teams rushed to the location immediately after receiving reports about a vehicle falling into the sea.

But by the time officers arrived, the rescue had already happened. The two men had managed to bring the stranded driver safely back to shore.

Sharjah Police later praised the pair publicly, describing their actions as brave and deeply human, as mentioned in Gulf Today.

Also, the incident has sparked a lot of praise online, especially because the men put their own safety at risk without even knowing the driver personally.

The Men Said They Just Did What Felt Right

The two residents later thanked police for recognising them, but their explanation for jumping into the water was pretty simple. They said they acted on instinct.

For many people, that probably sounds easier said than done. A sinking vehicle in dark water is not exactly a safe rescue attempt. Panic alone can make situations very dangerous very quickly. Still, the men decided that helping mattered more in that moment.

Sharjah Police said recognising actions like these is part of encouraging stronger community responsibility and reminding people that small decisions during emergencies can sometimes save lives.
