Anyone who’s dealt with vehicle licensing in the UAE knows the drill: you finish everything online, and then you still have to physically drive to a service centre just to hand over your number plates. Sharjah Police is about to change that. In partnership with Noon, Sharjah is launching a service that lets a Noon representative collect your vehicle plates directly from you and deliver them to the relevant Traffic and Licensing Services centre. No appointment, queue, or separate trip across town.
Sharjah Is Rolling Out A New Service So You Never Have To Queue Up For Number Plates
How It’ll Work, Step By Step
The service applies to licensing transactions that require handing in plates to centres run by Sharjah’s Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department. You can request the transaction through a traffic and licensing service centre or directly via the Ministry of Interior’s MOI UAE app. From there, a Noon representative comes to collect your plates, and the moment they’re handed over, you get a text confirming receipt. You then finish the rest of the transaction electronically through the MOI’s smart apps and traffic and licensing service channels, turning a half-day errand into something you can wrap up from your sofa.
Part Of A Bigger Digital Push
This isn’t a one-off. Sharjah Police has been steadily expanding its digital services, and this plate collection initiative fits right into that pattern, linking a physical step with procedures that are otherwise fully digital. The stated goal is to cut down the time and effort residents spend on licensing errands. An exact launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s described as coming soon, so if you’ve got a licensing transaction pending, it might be worth holding off a few weeks to see if you can skip the trip altogether.
