Spain’s Meliá Hotels International is bringing its luxury Gran Meliá brand to the UAE for the first time. The debut comes via J1 Hotel, a Gran Meliá Hotel, set to open in Dubai’s Jumeirah 1 in Q4 2027, first announced back in 2025 and now taking shape as one of the city’s most anticipated new luxury addresses.
A New Luxury Address In Jumeirah 1
Named after its location, J1 Hotel will bring 366 rooms and suites to the beachfront, including 40 accommodations with private pools, alongside four swimming pools, landscaped outdoor and retail spaces, a ballroom, meeting and event facilities, a fitness centre and a rooftop terrace. It marks Meliá’s third property in Dubai, joining Meliá Desert Palm and ME by Meliá Dubai, and reflects the group’s continued push into the premium and luxury segment with what it describes as a modern expression of Spanish luxury.
A Dining Collection Built To Be A Destination
Food and beverage sits at the centre of the J1 concept. Ibiza-born, Greek-led restaurant Jul’s will make its Dubai debut here after recently opening its flagship in London, bringing a contemporary, “no limit cuisine” take on Greek flavours. Joining it is Tala, a Pan-Middle Eastern restaurant overlooking the marina conceived as a “Sunlit Marina Majlis,” complete with a show kitchen, private dining, terrace and VIP lounge with shisha.
They join four previously announced names: Zuma Beach House, the brand’s first beachfront location in the Middle East along a 140-metre private beach; Park Chinois, bringing its 1930s Shanghai-inspired after-dark dining concept to a rooftop above J1 Beach; Novikov Restaurant & Beach Club, arriving after its 2024 Los Angeles launch with a Mediterranean-led menu and semi-private beach cabanas; and an all-day concept transitioning from breakfast through to dinner, with further details to come.

Wellness Goes Beyond The Spa
J1 Hotel’s wellness offering, developed by Waring Wellbeing Hospitality under its Journée Wellbeing brand, is designed as a rooftop sanctuary blending Mediterranean-inspired relaxation with interiors drawn from Dubai’s beach landscape. The programme will combine traditional treatments, advanced therapies and visiting practitioners with social and movement experiences, including Aufguss sauna ceremonies and group Reformer Pilates.
Leading the property is General Manager Pedro Neto, who brings over two decades of luxury hospitality experience, including 17 years with Four Seasons across Lisbon, Nevis, Maui and Prague, before senior roles in Portugal’s Algarve.
