1. Dubai Completes First Smart Water Mapping Project In The Region
Dubai Municipality revealed that it has completed the first smart waterway mapping system in the Middle East. Yes, it is a pilot project which uses mobile mapping technology to survey waterways and canals. The steps are a part of the authority to strengthen the digital infrastructure and smart city system. Using the Leica TRK mobile mapping system, which was mounted on a specially equipped vessel, it captured high-precision geospatial data across Dubai waterways and canals.
2. Illegal Slaughter Houses Shut Down In Kuwait
Kuwaiti authorities arrested several expats after it shut down three illegal slaughterhouses. These are operating inside livestock pens, which were in the Kabd area. As revealed by Gulf News, which mentioned the Ministry of Interior, the operations were carried out by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department in Jahra Governorate. The investigation was carried out after the reports mentioned how the sites were being used for unlicensed slaughter activities, which violates public health and agricultural regulations.
3. Saudi Arabia Launches Masar Nusuk Platform
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah from Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital service. As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, this is for qualifying external agents and finalising contracts for the 1448 AH Umrah season. Called the Masar Nusuk Platform, the move forms a part of the broader digital ecosystem. It aims to automate contracting procedures. Not to mention, the aim is also to improve efficiency and strengthen the readiness when it comes to the Umrah sector for the new season.
4. Oman Temperature Soar Above 44°
The summer season has not even begun, and temperatures in Oman have already climbed above 40°. Yes, Saham recorded the highest temperature in the country at 44.5° over the past 24 hours, as revealed on May 11 by the civil aviation authorities’ data. As the inches closer to the peak of the summer season, other areas also experience high temperatures.

5. Eid Holiday Announced For Dubai Private Schools
Eid al-Adha holiday is going to begin from May 25th to May 29th for private schools in Dubai. This is according to the unified academic calendar, with the classes scheduled to resume from Monday, June 1st. This announcement comes just ahead of one of the most significant religious celebrations in the region. While there are many speculations on the day when Eid will happen, it finally remains subject to the official moon sighting.
