UAE’s Golden Visa has always been in the news. Be it for updating its rules or adding new categories. Similarly, a brand-new category has been announced under the coveted Golden Visa programme. As per the announcement, it now recognises waqf (endowment) donors for the UAE Golden Visa who support humanitarian causes.
What Is Waqf & Why Is It The New Category For UAE Golden Visa?

The UAE has been witnessing numerous amazing updates at the ongoing GITEX GLOBAL 2025, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Waqf is the new category as per the signed agreement between the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai). According to a report by Gulf News, this new visa pathway falls under the category of “financial supporters of humanitarian work.” Basically, if you’re a qualifying donor, you could land a 10-year residency in Dubai.
A Clear Path For Waqf Donors
The process of selecting the donors is pretty simple. Awqaf Dubai will handpick eligible donors based on standards set out in Cabinet Resolution No. (65) of 2022. Once someone’s name makes the list, GDRFA-Dubai steps in to issue the Golden Visa. A joint committee from both entities will keep tabs on how the initiative is rolled out, making sure it actually delivers the social and developmental impact it promises.
UAE Golden Visa For Waqf Donors: More Than Just A Residency Perk
By rewarding waqf donors with a Golden Visa, the UAE is simply blending humanitarian with socio-economic policies of the region. This will encourage the residents to donate and help people, and also gain a golden visa opportunity from the same.
A Broader Vision For A Giving City
This initiative is clearly going to shape the future of the UAE in terms of cultural values. And extending the Golden Visa to waqf donors is a clear signal: humanitarian work is well-appreciated here.
In the future, we can clearly envision how the UAE can be a place where generosity fuels growth, and donors’ efforts don’t go unnoticed by the government. So if you are already a Waqf donor, visit the official government website to understand the process and eligibility requirements.
