The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has ordered the precautionary recall of a batch of three-layer face masks after quality inspections found foreign materials and signs of contamination in some units.

Which Masks Are Affected?

The recall is for batch number 20251015 of NIN 160 FMP – NML Face Mask CG Blue, the establishment said in a circular. Some reports list the product code as NIN 160 FMB-NML, so check the batch number printed on your pack rather than relying on the product code alone. Only that batch is covered by the notice.

Why Was The Recall Ordered?

The EDE said the decision followed a complaint about the product’s quality. Subsequent inspections identified foreign materials and signs of contamination in units from the affected batch. The recall has been described as precautionary.

What Distributors And Health Facilities Have Been Told

Healthcare professionals, healthcare facilities and pharmaceutical establishments have been instructed to immediately stop selling, supplying, distributing or using masks from the affected batch.

The local distributor has been ordered to:

  • Withdraw all quantities of the batch from the UAE market
  • Isolate the recalled products and remaining stock under quarantine
  • Stop any further distribution
  • Give the EDE details of quantities imported, distributed, recalled and still in stock, plus a full list of distribution locations across the country

In Dubai, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) circulated the recall notice to private-sector health facilities and practitioners, urging them to comply.
