The UAE is making another significant move towards combating world hunger. Under the 1 Billion Meals program, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has already said that he will construct the largest dates factory in the world.
UAE To Construct World’s Largest Dates Factory
When it becomes operational, the facility will have an annual output of about 150 million units of date-based foods. These products will primarily benefit children with malnutrition and food-insecure communities. The project will convert one of the oldest staple foods in the region into a massive source of nutrition for the vulnerable populations all over the world.
Making Regional Staple Life-Saving Nutrition
Dates are culturally significant and have nutritional significance in the UAE and the Middle East as a whole. Today, that resource will be used by the country on a humanitarian level on an international scale. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives is collaborating with some stakeholders to develop the project.
Sheikh Mohammed posted the news on his official X account, saying that the project aims to turn dates into a quality nutritional product with a high price capable of addressing the hunger issue in the world.
The concept is both concrete and figurative. Dates are also nutritious and are abundant in the region and can be readily converted to food products with extended shelf life. That is why they can be used in humanitarian aid delivery in crisis-affected areas.

Millions of people still experience hunger worldwide, particularly in conflict areas and low-income countries, among children. Childhood nutritional deficits may result in a lifetime of health issues, so access to nutritious food is essential.
