Middle East Updates
1. Second Intermediate Period Settlement Uncovered In Egypt
Archaeologists in Egypt have discovered a Second Intermediate Period settlement. As mentioned by the Gulf News, it includes tombs, homes, storage facilities and industrial installations. These were uncovered in the Tell El Koa archaeological site in Ismailia Governorate. The findings give archaeologists a fresh insight into life in the eastern Nile Delta.
2. Dubai RTA Introduces Quick Wins
Dubai RTA has introduced a series of traffic ‘Quick Wins’. These are at 28 locations across Dubai, and it would be completed between July and September 2026. The work forms a part of Dubai RTA’s effort to enhance the road network. It would also improve operational efficiency and ensure smoother traffic flow. It should be noted that the works would cover four locations around school zones, among other places.
3. 10,000+ Tickets For Etihad Rail Sold
Over 10,000 tickets for Etihad Rail were sold ahead of the historic launch. This is the first national train in the UAE, and it’s one of the most highly anticipated services. The inaugural service of the public rail transport system began with the Fujairah and Abu Dhabi route.

5. UAE’s Hottest Summer Period Begins In July
The UAE will enter the year’s hottest period. Yes, it is set to begin on July 3rd, with the start of the traditional “Jamrat Al Qayth” season. It brings extreme heat and dry conditions. As a result, the temperatures may exceed 50 degrees Celsius in some desert areas.
