On the night of October 7th, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre released the first images from its newest satellites. We are talking about the images from MBZ-Sat and Etihad-Sat. These photos revealed views of Dubai and Abu Dhabi from space. Some of the most iconic landmarks have been shown with striking clarity, and here’s all you need to know.
MBRSC Releases Impressive Satellite Images
Showcase high-quality earth images, MBZ-Sat, which has been built as the region’s most advanced imaging satellite, delivers some of the most beautiful shots of the city. While Etihad-Sat is the first synthetic aperture radar mission of the UAE, and has all-weather, day-night capability. So when these two are paired together, scientists and planners are given a powerful toolbox for coastal monitoring or even infrastructure planning.
In Line With The World Space Week
Looking at the first images, people are certainly pleased. You can see the Palm Jumeirah, Expo City Dubai, and the Saadiyat Cultural District of Abu Dhabi. As it happens, the wide frames show how the shorelines stitch the cities together. The timing is in line with World Space Week, which is running till October 10th. And it must be noted that the UAE’s contribution this year is absolutely commendable.
