The World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi 2026 is gaining momentum, with organisers unveiling the official race routes and confirming participation from more than 35 National Federations. More than 4,000 athletes are expected to gather at Hudayriyat Island from November 13 to 22 for the first edition of the championships to be held in the Middle East and North Africa.

Organised by World Triathlon and hosted by Modon, the 10-day sporting festival will feature six disciplines: Duathlon, Cross Duathlon, Aquathlon, Long Distance Aquabike, Cross Triathlon and Long Distance Triathlon.
Teams from Great Britain, the United States, Australia and Brazil are among those already confirmed. The UAE will also field its largest-ever multisport team, with more than 160 athletes confirmed so far, while qualification remains open to Emirati athletes and residents.

Race Routes Revealed
The newly revealed routes will showcase Hudayriyat Island’s mix of sporting infrastructure and coastal landscapes. Athletes will compete across turquoise waters, coastal roads, cycling and running tracks, mountain bike trails and technical trail-running routes. Selected races will also cross Hudayriyat Bridge, offering views of Abu Dhabi’s coastline and skyline.
All six championship disciplines will begin, transition and finish at 321 Sports, creating a connected Championship Village where athletes, spectators and supporters can experience the event in one location.
Schedule To Mark Your Calendar
The championships will open with an expanded weekend featuring the return of the World Triathlon Championship Series Abu Dhabi alongside the multisport programme. The schedule includes elite WTCS Sprint races on November 13, followed by the Mixed Relay and Duathlon World Championships on November 14. The 2×2 Duathlon Mixed Relay will take place on November 15, followed by Cross Triathlon on November 17, Cross Duathlon on November 19 and Aquathlon on November 20.
A Kids & Junior Community Triathlon for children aged four to 15 will take place on November 21, before the Long Distance Triathlon and Aquabike World Championships close the event on November 22.

Multiple Events & Activities To Look Forward To
Beyond the racing, Hudayriyat Island will host community activities, entertainment and live concerts at Surf Abu Dhabi. The soon-to-open Velodrome Abu Dhabi will also form a centrepiece of the Championship Village, turning the championships into a sporting and family-focused festival.
