Even before dawn, Kite Beach Dubai was buzzing with activity. By the time the sun came up, almost 1,500 runners had shown up. No big race numbers or competition at the top. Just people coming.
Dubai’s Kite Beach Sees 1,500 Runners Join Run As One Solidarity Event
The event, “Run As One,” turned a quiet Sunday into a citywide moment of support.
One Run, Many Clubs
Dubai’s running scene typically spans a wide area. Different groups, paths and times exist. Over 20 running clubs got together for one run. The initial spark, a simple concept, ignited a citywide phenomenon, fuelled by the chatter of everyday people. The runners wore the UAE flag’s colours: red, green, white, and black. It was not planned in detail. But it didn’t have to be.
Running To Connect, Not Compete
The distances were between two and eight kilometres. Some people ran quickly. Some people took their time. Some people just walked part of it. And that was the point. It wasn’t about speed or timing. It was about being there and moving together.
The crowd spread out along the beach but stayed connected. People cheered for people they didn’t know. Clubs that usually train alone ran next to each other.
A Community Effort At Every Level
A mix of local and global brands, like adidas, Red Bull, Costa Coffee, and Five Guys UAE, helped with the event. However, the true driving force behind the event was the community itself. The run, which was put on by Kite Beach Dubai, showed how quickly people in this city can come together when they care about something.
According to the press release, the goal was simple: to make a place where people could stand together, even if it was only for a few kilometres.

More Than Just A Finish Line
The run was over, but the people didn’t leave right away.
People stayed behind, talked and reflected. Some people gathered around a message board and wrote notes of thanks and support. Groups that came separately left as one. Not in a big way, just naturally.
