The Sharjah Literature Festival is making a return for the second edition in 2026. Complete with a rich line-up of workshops, performances, panel discussions and more that have been curated for visitors, it’s going to be an event that every bibliophile would want to attend. Taking place in January 2026, here’s all you need to know about this upcoming event that is perfect for book lovers.

Sharjah Literature Festival Returns In January

If you consider yourself a bibliophile, then you will be pleased to know that from January 5th to 11th, you can attend the Sharjah Literature Festival. As it returns for the second edition, this will be taking place at the University City Hall Square in Sharjah. For this edition, the theme is ‘A Community Woven by Tales’. With many prominent figures participating, you can expect people from the fields of literature, poetry, art, media, sports, culinary arts, and thought to make their way to the event.

42 Emirati Publishing Houses Participating At The Event

As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, writer Afra Mahmoud, Latifa Al Najjar, another writer and author Fatima Al Breiki, among many, will be in attendance. This is a seven-day festival, which will feature a book fair that will see the participation of 42 Emirati publishing houses. Publishers will be presenting a diverse range of local titles to various age groups. Not only this, but local entrepreneurs will also be offering crochet items, accessories, personalised gifts, and scented candles that are inspired by ancestral perfumes.

Wide Range Of Topics For Panel Discussions & Workshops

Featuring a series of panel discussions, these would cover a wide range of topics, including Ancient Civilisation in Mleiha, Art and Music, The Rules of Writing for Children, Electronic Games, and Sports & Society, to name some. Not only this, but poetry and social evenings will also be among the highlights of the event that will celebrate the art of verse and its close connection to the community. With there being a storytelling corner for children, you will certainly want to drop by with your little kiddos.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that a bunch of workshops have also been planned. Participants will be able to immerse themselves in the world of art, visual art, and comic characters, with several artists from different fields taking over the activity. There are also other workshops scheduled for people, including creative designs for bookmarks, Arabic calligraphy, content creation, and even video editing, to name a few.
