This could be the glow-up that school trips need. Mleiha National Park has a new set of workshops for kids that are very different from what they do in school. Instead of textbooks, picture fossils in your hands, desert animals up close, and stars above. The park is already known for its deep ties to history and nature, and it is located in the middle of Sharjah’s rough desert landscape. Now, it’s letting younger people step right into that story.

Mleiha Park Starts Workshops for Kids to Learn

The park is in the Faya Paleolandscape, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has evidence of human history going back thousands of years. Kids five and older can join guided workshops that are both fun and educational. For example, the Flora and Fauna session teaches kids about desert ecosystems. They walk through the area, see native plants and animals, and learn how life can survive in harsh conditions.

Fossils, Flint Tools, And A Journey Back In Time

Kids can touch real fossils and even make their own casts to take home with the Fossil Fun Expeditions. In the best way possible, it’s messy. The premium version goes even further by taking kids on field trips to ancient seabeds, which gives them a sense of what life was like on Earth a long time ago.

After that, there’s the “Sounds of the Past” class. In this activity, kids try flint knapping, which is how early humans made tools. It’s both a history lesson and a way to improve your skills.

Nights Of Stargazing And Space Camps

The Space Camp is perfect for kids who like to look up more than they look down. This session, which lasts two to three hours, talks about the solar system, comets, and impact craters. It ends with guided stargazing under some of the clearest skies in the UAE. The park’s location, away from city lights, is important. In December 2025, it offered a stunning view of the Geminid Meteor Shower, drawing skywatchers for a rare celestial event.

Gulf News says that Mleiha is one of the best places in the country for astronomy experiences because it has low light pollution and an open desert horizon.

A Full-Day Event for Families and Schools

The park has a full-day educational package for people who want it all. It includes a trip to Faya Mountain, a museum visit, guided sessions, fossil activities, and sand digging. Families and schools can book these sessions to give kids a break from their regular lessons and replace them with something they’ll remember.
