Some desserts sound confusing until you try them. Then suddenly you’re wondering why nobody thought of it sooner. That’s pretty much the reaction people are having to the bread & butter ice cream at Home Bakery in Dubai. Yes, actual bread and butter, but in ice cream form.
Home Bakery’s Bread & Butter Ice Cream Might Be The Weirdest Dessert Combo

The dessert combines burnt butter ice cream with caramelised bread crumbs scattered on top. So you get this mix of creamy, salty, buttery and crunchy all in one spoonful. It’s very rich, honestly, and that’s also the whole appeal.
For many dessert lovers in the UAE, Home Bakery already sits high on the comfort-food list. Their cookies, cakes and oversized desserts have built a proper cult following over the years. But this one feels a little more unexpected.
It Tastes Familiar, But Also Slightly Strange At First
The first bite apparently throws people off a bit.
You expect sweetness straight away because it’s ice cream. Instead, the burnt butter flavour hits first. It’s deeper, almost nutty, with a slightly toasted taste that feels more grown-up than your standard vanilla scoop. Then the bread crumbs kick in.
Not soft bread as they are caramelised until crisp, almost like buttery biscuit crumbs. So the texture changes completely halfway through eating it.
Also, the dessert doesn’t try too hard to look fancy. Which weirdly makes it more tempting.
UAE Cafés Are Getting Bolder With Desserts Lately
Desserts across Dubai and the UAE have become a lot more experimental lately. Cafés are mixing savoury flavours into sweets, adding olive oil to cakes, turning croissants into soft serve toppings and basically testing how far people are willing to go for dessert experimentation.
But Home Bakery’s version feels less gimmicky than some of the others.
Maybe because bread and butter already feel nostalgic for a lot of people. It reminds some of late-night toast at home. I compare it to buttery pudding or warm bakery smells. The ice cream just turns that feeling colder and creamier.

The Dessert Costs AED 54 But People Are Still Ordering It
At AED 54, this is definitely not an everyday ice cream run. But people still seem curious enough to try it at least once.
And honestly, UAE diners love novelty desserts when they actually taste good. Home Bakery currently has branches across the UAE, so tracking the dessert down isn’t difficult either.
