For a long time, most people in the UAE reached for the same international chocolate brands without thinking twice. Swiss, Belgian, maybe a British favourite if you were feeling nostalgic. But somewhere along the way, homegrown chocolate brands quietly started changing that in the UAE. Now there are bean-to-bar factories in Dubai, camel milk chocolates that tourists carry home by the suitcase and brands turning dates, saffron and Arabic coffee into something surprisingly addictive.
8 Homegrown Chocolate Brands In The UAE
Some are luxury gifts you save for special occasions. Others disappear from the box before you even make it home. If your idea of happiness involves cocoa and poor self-control, these 8 UAE-grown names deserve a spot on your radar.
1. Mirzam Chocolate Makers
A pioneer of the bean-to-bar movement in the region, Mirzam roasts and grinds its own cacao in-house at its Al Quoz factory, sourcing beans from places like Vietnam, Madagascar and Papua New Guinea. Its flavours lean into the historic Spice Route – think cardamom, saffron and date-inspired bars. Bars start from around AED32, and the space also runs tasting flights and hands-on chocolate-making classes.
2. Brix Dessert Bar
Best known for its dessert menu, Brix also makes handcrafted chocolate bars that look almost too good to eat. Choose from rose with a white chocolate base, pistachio dark chocolate, or salted caramel, alongside a range of truffles and bonbons. Find it at Jumeirah Fishing Harbour and Time Out Market.

3. Bostani Chocolate
Not every local favourite ends up on airport shelves. Bostani has quietly built a reputation among chocolate lovers, particularly in Abu Dhabi, for producing quality products without chasing trends or viral moments. The flavours stay fairly classic, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Not every chocolate needs pistachio cream, kunafa filling and social media hype attached to it. Sometimes a really good chocolate bar is enough.
4. Bateel
Yes, Bateel is famous for dates. But the chocolate deserves attention too. Chocolate-covered dates are hardly a new idea in the Gulf, but Bateel somehow manages to make them feel premium without trying too hard. You’ll find combinations involving orange peel, nuts and different cocoa strengths that somehow disappear faster than intended. They also make excellent last-minute gifts when you’ve forgotten somebody’s birthday. Again.
5. Coco Jalila
What started as a one-woman passion project by Emirati entrepreneur Najah Al Muntafiq in 2010 has grown into a brand now supplying names like Emirates Airline and Jumeirah Hotels. The chocolates use less sugar and more cocoa butter, and the brand has even collaborated with Italian master chocolatier Guido Gobino. Look out for the Coco Luna, filled with hazelnut gianduja and crushed pistachios.
6. Ganache Chocolatier
Founded by Mouza Alabbar, Ganache runs a first-of-its-kind chocolate factory right inside its Alserkal Avenue location, so you can watch the bean-to-bar process happen in real time. It’s fully hand-crafted using ingredients sourced from Switzerland, Belgium and France, open daily from 7 am to 11 pm in Al Quoz.
7. Chocolala
If you’ve attended enough weddings, engagements or corporate events in the UAE, chances are you’ve already eaten Chocolala without realising it. The brand has become a regular feature at celebrations across the country thanks to its huge range of gift boxes and customised options. But beyond the fancy wrapping, the chocolate itself holds up surprisingly well. Which isn’t always guaranteed in the gifting world.

8. FIX Dessert Chocolatier
The name behind the chocolate bar that took over the internet. FIX’s viral kunafa-stuffed chocolate, packed with pistachio cream and crunchy kataifi, is widely credited as the original “Dubai chocolate” that sparked a global trend, one Billie Eilish herself even gave a vegan twist to. FIX regularly drops new limited flavours and has run pop-ups at spots like the Museum of the Future. Bars retail at around AED68.25 and are typically ordered through Deliveroo.
Whether you’re gifting, snacking, or just supporting local for the sake of it, these eight prove the UAE’s chocolate game goes well beyond the Instagram-viral kunafa bar, though that one’s still worth the hype, too.
