It was just on June 23rd when it was announced that Etihad Rail will begin its introductory operational phase from June 30th. The passenger train service would begin between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, as mentioned by the Abu Dhabi Media Office. And now the bookings are also open, and if you are also curious about the train journey, which would take 1 hour and 45 minutes, here’s how you can book your tickets.

You have to visit the official website of Etihad Rail in order to book your tickets. But before we dive into the tickets, it’s worth mentioning that they are available for two travel classes. The first one is Comfort Class, for which the fares start at AED109, but they are currently available for AED55 as an introductory offer of 50% discount. The Premium Class fares are priced at AED239, but the introductory price is AED120 at the time of writing this article.
Flexibility Of The Tickets
Coming to the bookings, passengers can choose from three ticket options on the basis of their level of flexibility with Etihad Rail. These include the following:
Saver
Basically, there is no change or refund permitted in this ticket option, and a fee applies for seat selection. Otherwise, the seats are automatically allocated 24 hours before the scheduled departure. These tickets cannot be transferred to other passengers.
Value
Value tickets are perfect for some flexibility. This includes complimentary seat selection. It offers unlimited free changes, which can be made up to 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. After this window, every change requires a payment of AED20, and the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Flex
Perfect for maximum flexibility, these tickets offer unlimited free changes, which are allowed prior to departure and up to 30 minutes after. It offers a full refund if the ticket is cancelled 24 hours or more before departure. A 30% cancellation fee applies on the day of travel. These tickets can be transferred to other passengers before boarding.

What About The Booking Process?
But how to book the tickets? Well, tickets can be booked online through the official website of Etihad Rail. You can also download the Etihad Rail mobile app. To book the tickets, the process is quite simple!
- First, you must select the route and date. The date available to choose is from June 30th onwards.
- After this, you must choose the class and the year.
- You must repeat the process if you are booking a round trip for the return journey.
- Thereafter, you will have to feed the passenger details, which include full name, email address and mobile number.
- Add the extra options, if required, which could include shuttle bus booking for AED10. Once all of this is done, make your payment through credit card, debit card or phone wallet. Once this is done, you will receive a digital ticket.
But what is the daily schedule of the train? Well, the train from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah leaves at 8:19 AM, 1:53 PM and 6:39 PM. And from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi, the trains will leave at 5:34 PM, 10:59 AM, and 5:28 PM.
