The aviation industry across the globe is being impacted by the massive wave of disruptions today. Yes, as the escalation of conflict continues, several flights across the globe have been disrupted today, Sunday, March 1st, 2026. With the escalation of conflict, several airspaces have resulted in closure. This has impacted more than 700 flights, and here’s all you need to know about aviation-related development.

700+ Flights Cancelled

More than 700 flights have been cancelled. In fact, there are hundreds that have also been rerouted, as revealed by The Times of India. This comes at a time when the Middle East airspace continues to remain mostly offline. With localised restrictions in place, this has expanded into a regional state of emergency. From major carriers like Emirates to Air India and European giants like Lufthansa, many flights have been affected.

Hundreds Of Flights Affected Globally

Sending shock waves across the global aviation, hundreds of flights have ended up being grounded. As a result, airlines have been forced to suspend operations across key hubs in the Gulf. In fact, the airspace over parts of Iran and neighbouring corridors has also been closed, and some have even been declared unsafe.

This comes at a time when major UAE carriers have temporarily suspended their operations. For instance, Emirates has announced that it has suspended all flights until 3 PM on March 2nd in the latest update. Additionally, Etihad Airways has also announced that it has suspended flights until 2 PM on Monday, March 2nd. All operations to and from Abu Dhabi have been suspended.

Several Airports In India Affected By Tensions

Not just in the Middle East, but even in India, several airports have been hit with cancelled flights. For instance, Delhi Airport has issued a passenger advisory asking passengers to check with their airlines for the up-to-date flight information before they leave for the airport. Airports across the GCC have been hit by flight cancellations. As revealed by Oman Observer, which quoted Cirium, 716 flights were officially cancelled out of 4,329 scheduled flights in the Middle East on Sunday.

However, airlines are doing their best to ensure that the stranded passengers are taken care of. For instance, the UAE authorities are working with airlines and airport authorities to ensure that stranded passengers are given accommodation and food, and they are bearing the costs. Similarly, Kuwait Airways has also announced that it will be offering transport and housing to passengers outside Kuwait, whose flights have been cancelled. It is also taking measures for the transit of passengers inside Kuwait, as revealed by Kuwait Times.

The sweeping cancellations have also affected travellers from European countries. For instance, the Oman Observer mentions how students who were supposed to travel from Paris to Dubai mentioned that their college trip had been abandoned. Not to mention, the European Union’s aviation regulator also recommended its airlines to stay out of the space, as it is affected by ongoing military intervention.

With sweeping cancellations affecting travellers across the world, it is pertinent that people who are travelling to the region must stay updated with their airline for the latest news.
