Saudi Arabia’s budget airline, Flyadeal, is getting ready to add Syria’s Damascus to its route map, with flights kicking off on Wednesday, 1 October. Tickets are pegged at SAR 529, a price point that pretty much cements Flyadeal’s place as one of the cheapest ways to travel between Jeddah and the Syrian capital. In a region where airfare can often spiral depending on demand, that’s not a small deal.
Flyadeal’s New Route: Fly On Jeddah-Syria Route For Just SAR 529

The airline itself isn’t a newcomer anymore. Established in 2017 as the low-cost arm of Saudia, it carved out a space in the domestic market before gradually stretching abroad. Now, this new connection puts Flyadeal among the very few carriers currently flying in and out of Syria. That’s a distinction worth noting, given how limited air access to Damascus has been in recent years.
What Travellers Can Expect From Flyadeal
Let’s talk planes. Flyadeal’s fleet counts 38 aircraft, a mix of Airbus A320 and the newer, fuel-efficient A320neo models. They’re fairly modern, so passengers can expect clean interiors, comfortable seating, and, importantly in this age of perpetually drained phones, USB charging ports at every seat.
The airline keeps things simple: fly light with just a backpack, or tack on extras like a roomier seat or a hot meal if that’s your style. It’s very much a choose-what-you-need model, which is exactly how budget carriers keep costs down. After all, not everyone cares for an in-flight meal when they’re trying to get from A to B quickly.
In practice, Flyadeal seems to know its market well. Travellers who want affordable connections without frills will find it ticks the boxes. For those who prefer a more premium experience, the parent airline Saudia is right there. So, in a way, passengers get the best of both worlds under one umbrella.
The Wider Aviation Picture
This new route doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Other regional carriers are also edging back into Syria, Dubai’s flydubai, for instance, has announced its own services resuming from June. That trickle of routes reopening is a signal that Syria is slowly being pulled back into the wider aviation map.
Of course, every new route brings questions of demand, logistics, and long-term viability. But Flyadeal’s approach seems straightforward: offer a price people can’t ignore and let the seats fill themselves. At SAR 529, that’s cheaper than some domestic flights within the Gulf.

Low-Cost Entry Into Syria’s Skies
From an industry standpoint, it’s also a reminder of how quickly aviation in the Middle East adapts. Routes open, pause, and resume, often influenced by politics, passenger demand, and fleet availability. In this case, Flyadeal is betting that there’s enough movement between Saudi Arabia and Syria to justify the schedule.
For travellers, it boils down to choice. And more choice usually means better fares. If nothing else, Flyadeal’s entry shakes up the pricing game and makes flying to Damascus more accessible.
