From Emirates To flydubai, Here’s How To Apply For Refunds And Rebooking For UAE Airlines!

Cancellation of flights by multiple UAE Airlines may cause havoc in travel arrangements. You are one minute packing your bag to go somewhere, and the next minute, you are checking airline apps every five minutes. In the recent past, some airlines in the UAE changed their flight schedules owing to disruptions in the region and many travellers were left uncertain on whether to get a refund or rebook.

Cancelled UAE Flights? Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia And flydubai Refund Guide

The good news? Such policy changes as flexible policies have been introduced by major airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia and flydubai to assist affected passengers in dealing with their bookings.

According to the report by the Gulf News, the airlines have slowly gone back to limited operations, focusing on the safety of the passengers and the operational preparedness. At present, the only people who should be visiting the airport are those who have confirmed bookings. This is what all the airlines are doing with refunds and rebooking.

Emirates

The Emirates flagship airline of Dubai has resumed a limited operation following a partial airspace opening. Customers who had their reservations between February 28 and March 31 can reschedule to the same destination without incurring additional costs to travel until April 30.

In case your flight was cancelled, you may get a full refund even of the unused sections of the multi-leg journeys.

A few tips to avoid problems:

  1. Get in touch with the Emirates directly in case you have made reservations via its call centre or its website.
  2. In case you were issued a ticket by a travel agent, contact the travel agent.
  3. Do not use the feature of Manage My Booking to alter disrupted tickets, which can result in the wrong amount being charged.
  4. Transit traffic has no opportunity to go unless their flights are on time.
  5. And this is a key one: do not come to the airport without being contacted first by Emirates.

Etihad Airways

The Etihad Airways, which is the national carrier of Abu Dhabi, has planned to resume a reduced timetable starting March 6, 2026, with approximately 25 major destinations.

Customers who booked their flights until March 21 on or before February 28 are eligible to rebook free of charge on Etihad flights up to May 15. In the event of the cancellation of your flight, you can claim a full refund, including unexpired parts of a multi-stop ticket.

Before their departure, travellers should:

  1. The status of the flight can be checked on the airline’s website.
  2. Make sure the contact information is updated to receive notifications.
  3. Going on vacation should be done when the reservation is made.

Air Arabia

Air Arabia, a low-cost airline, has postponed flights until 3:00 PM UAE time on March 9, 2026, but some of its authorised services still operate.

Passengers can have more than one choice in case their flight is affected:

  1. Free rebooking within 15 days
  2. Future travel full credit voucher.
  3. Restitution to the original method of payment.

The customers may make the bookings either via the airline website, via the mobile application or by making a call to their travel agent.

flydubai

flydubai has started operations across the network, although there are limited flights. The passengers who made a booking between February 28 and March 31 will be able to rebook flights within 30 days following the initial travel date penalty-free. Cancellation of your trip with the airline will normally result in a flydubai travel voucher, depending on the type of ticket. Refunds in forms of cash are seldom provided. The updating of bookings is possible online, at the customer centre of the airline, and by using travel agents.

What Travellers Now Must Do

The only important rule is to check before travelling. As the conditions stabilise, airlines keep changing schedules. Passengers ought to follow official airline announcements, and they should not travel to airports unless they are convinced.

It may take a little patience. However, flexible policies imply that most travellers will not be deprived of a choice, be it a reimbursement, a new travel date, or a future trip credit.
