If you’re an Indian national in Kuwait planning a passport renewal, visa application or other consular work, there’s an important temporary change to know about. The Embassy of India in Kuwait has limited passport, visa and consular services to emergency cases only with immediate effect until July 19, 2026.
Indian Embassy In Kuwait Restricts Passport & Visa Services Till July 19
The embassy said the move is due to administrative reasons and stressed that only applicants who can show genuine urgency will be able to access services during this period.
Only Emergency Services To Be Processed
For now, the embassy will be working on a shortlist of urgent requests, such as:
- Tatkal passport application
- Certificates NRI
- Short Validity Passports for Applicants whose Civil ID is expiring
- Certificates of Emergency
- Electronic visas
Applicants for these services should be prepared to provide supporting documentation evidencing the urgency of their application.

Routine Passport And Visa Applications Have Been Suspended
Most regular consular services are suspended until the restriction is lifted.
We are not currently accepting applications for:
- New applications and renewals of regular passports
- Passport attestations.
- Normal visa applications
The embassy has also clarified that all the Indian Consular Application Centres (ICAC) in Kuwait will remain closed till further notice for accepting applications, and no date has been announced for their re-opening.

Need Urgent Help? Visit During Morning Hours
Anyone requiring emergency assistance has been asked to visit the embassy’s Consular Wing between 9am and 12 noon and carry all relevant supporting documents.
The embassy has advised applicants not to visit without proof that the matter is urgent.
This Is Not A Change In Visa Policy
Officials were also keen to reassure travellers that the restriction is temporary and linked to operational reasons only.
It does not represent a change in India’s visa rules, travel policy or entry requirements.
So if your travel plans are not immediate, the main impact is likely to be a short delay rather than a cancellation.
What Indian Nationals In Kuwait Should Do Now
For the moment, routine passport and visa work is effectively paused until at least July 19. Before visiting the embassy or an application centre, check the embassy’s official channels for the latest updates and reopening notices.
