King Abdulaziz International Airport Home To Large Aquarium

Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport is home to an aquarium, which features a wide variety of 2,000 rare fish. As mentioned in a report of the Saudi Gazette, this is a relatively new facility, which was inaugurated back in 2019. The aquarium has a height of 14 m and a diameter of 10 m. A capacity of 10,00,000 litres, it contains a mixture of freshwater and German salt. With a temperature of 26°C, there is a variety of fish, some of which are quite rare.

As it happens, the water basin has a thickness of 300 MM and consists of 10 pieces. Each of which weighs 12,000 KG as mentioned in a report of Crystal Magazine. Did you know there are four various tanks for recycling, maintenance and processing of the seawater before they are put to use?

Yes, the coral reefs in the aquarium are made of silicon and latex. These represented real corals of the Red Sea. There is a lighting system that simulates a normal cycle for the fish. It is controlled automatically with the help of 16 halogen lamps for daylight. There are even 10 LED lights for night lighting, which is similar to moonlight.

An Important Airport For Pilgrims

For the unversed, it is the main airport for pilgrims who are on their way to perform Umrah or Hajj. Not only this, but the airport also has an indoor park, which spans an area of 18,000 m². It has been set up with an electric train station in the centre. Not to mention, there’s also a fish pool that has been constructed in the centre of the transport centre.
