King Khalid International Airport Begins Phased Transition From Feb 16th, And Here’s All About It

King Khalid International Airport, which is in Riyadh, will start the phased terminal transition process from February 16th onwards. This will take place until February 25th, and it is a part of what’s being described as the largest operational transformation in the airport’s history. With international and domestic flights being gradually relocated across several terminals, here’s all you need to know about this development and the flights, which are also expected to be affected by the transition.

Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport To Undergo Transition

Saudi Gazette, in its report, mentions how the transition will relocate several international and domestic flights, such as those operated by airlines like Saudia, flynas, flyadeal, and other foreign carriers. This move is being designed to make passenger flow better and to make operations more efficient. With long-term service quality, travellers are urged to check their designated terminal carefully before their departure time, so that there is no chaos at the last minute.

Crucial Dates For Transition

You have to take note of the key transition dates and terminal changes, and they are as follows:

  • February 16th
International flights that are operated by flyadeal that depart after 12 AM will relocate to Terminal 1.
  • February 17th
International flights that are operated by Saudia that depart after 3 AM will be moved to Terminal 2.
  • February 24th
All Saudia domestic flights that depart after 12 AM will relocate to Terminal 4. And domestic flights that are operated by Saudia, flynas, and flyadeal, which depart after 11 PM, will also operate from this terminal.
  • February 25th
International flights that are operated by foreign carriers and depart after 5 AM will be relocated to Terminal 5. Additionally, domestic flights that are operated by Saudia, flynas, and flyadeal, which depart after 7 AM, will operate from Terminal 3. This will be designated for domestic services.

The Transformation To Take Place In A Phased Manner

It should be noted that airports have advised passengers to arrive early. After all, check-in at the designated terminal opens four hours before departure. Moreover, travellers are being encouraged to stay in contact with their airlines to receive the latest operational updates during this transition period.

A part of the wider modernisation plan, this terminal transition is taking place in a phased approach. This has been designed in such a way that it minimises disruption. It also lays the groundwork for a more improved passenger experience and better operational performance in the coming years.
