After being closed for about two months, Kuwait has finally opened its airspace. Yes, Kuwait International Airport has announced that it would start operations with the flights expected to resume gradually. Here’s all you need to know about this big development, which marks the start of the phased restart of operations

Kuwait Airspace Reopens


As revealed by KUNA on Thursday, the resumption of operations starts after the temporary precautionary suspension. The process will begin with the reopening of Terminal 4 and 5 to select destinations from Sunday, April 26th. With the move being coordinated with relevant domestic and international authorities, it is being done to ensure that operations resume with the highest safety and security standards.

As it happens, this reopening is a part of the carefully planned and gradual approach to restoring air traffic. Additionally, full operations are expected to resume in due course.

The initial operations are limited to select destinations. These will be based on operational priorities. Not to mention, coordination is also going on with GCC countries so that air traffic can continue to be maintained during the crisis.

Ban Lifted From Celebrations, Events & More

This development comes after the Ministry of Interior also announced that weddings, parties and theatrical performances will be allowed to resume in the country from Friday, April 24th. As revealed by Times Kuwait, they mentioned the statement, which was issued on Thursday. As it happens, the ministry referred to Statement no. (11), which previously did not allow holding such events. It was also explained how this is being done after a thorough assessment of the current security situation.

With there being improved stability, the aim is to strike a balance between resuming social life and continuing to safeguard public safety.
