A shorter Hajj package is finally on the table. For 2026, the Hajj Committee of India has rolled out a 20-day Short Hajj Package, aimed at offering flexibility without skipping any of the essential rituals. So, if you’ve ever felt held back by the usual 40 to 45-day journey, here’s some good news. This new option is compact, clear-cut, and limited to 10,000 pilgrims. But don’t wait too long. Applications are open from 7 to 31 July 2025.

This package trims the usual long stay to just 20 days while covering everything needed, from travel, accommodation, to all obligatory Hajj rites in both Makkah and Madinah. Only Indian pilgrims can apply, and if the demand exceeds the available spots, selections will happen through a random draw called Qurrah. Once you pick the package, there’s no switching later. So think twice, then commit.

Flights will take off from major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, so you’ve got plenty of options to pick from. Travellers will need to select two preferred embarkation points while applying.

Several private operators have also joined the offering. Talbiya Umrah Pvt Ltd has packages starting from ₹6.5 lakh. Dayare Haram’s version begins at ₹6.95 lakh, offering shared rooms. Mubarak Travels, on the premium end, lists a 20-day plan with 4-star hotels and VIP services priced around ₹11–12 lakh.

Who Can Apply And How?

Registration runs online through the Hajj Committee of India portal hajcommittee.gov.in or the Hajj Suvidha mobile app. Here’s what you need to have in hand:

  • A recent passport-sized photo
  • A cancelled cheque or passbook in the name of the Cover Head

Only first-timers with the Hajj Committee can apply. If you’re 65 or older, you’ll need a companion. Eligible male pilgrims must be aged between 18 and 60. Women without a Mehram must be between 45 and 60.

You won’t need to pay anything while registering, but if you get selected, have ₹1.5 lakh ready for the first instalment. And just a heads-up, if you cancel without a serious medical reason or a death in the family, there will be penalties.

Selection Process And Quota Rules

India’s 2026 Hajj quota stands at 1,75,025. Of this, 70% is handled by the Hajj Committee of India, while 30% goes to private tour operators. If applications exceed the limit, seats are assigned in this order:

  • Seniors above 65
  • Women under 65 without a Mehram
  • General category applicants

A computerised draw will decide who goes and who waits.
