Egypt to launch a unified digital system for foreign work visas, putting the entire process on one electronic platform. The system is designed to simplify procedures, improve efficiency, and make it easier for businesses, investors, and foreign workers to manage permit-related services.
Egypt Is Moving Foreign Work Permits Online
Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Hassan Raddad, reviewed the final preparations for the new system on August 15. The platform will cover the complete foreign work permit journey, starting with company registration and accreditation and continuing through applications, reviews, approvals, and permit issuance.
Instead of applicants and businesses having to navigate separate processes, the new system is expected to bring these stages together under one digital setup.
The platform will also include mechanisms that allow permits and related information to be verified publicly.
One Platform To Connect Government Authorities
A key part of the project is electronic integration between the Ministry of Labour and other government authorities involved in issuing foreign work permits.
According to the Egyptian Gazette, this integration is expected to improve data flow between authorities, reduce duplication, and create a more transparent process. The ministry says the move is part of its wider digital transformation plans and efforts to improve government services.
By linking the various stages of the process electronically, it could cut down on paperwork and make the administrative processes easier for businesses that regularly employ foreign workers.

What The New System Could Mean For Foreign Workers
Foreign workers will continue to need the relevant permissions to work in Egypt. But the new platform intends to make the administrative side of the process faster and more straightforward.
The Ministry of Labour already lists licensing and renewing work permits for foreigners among its business services. The new system expects to bring these services into a more integrated digital framework.
The move also follows Egypt’s recent push towards digital services for international travellers. In August, Cairo International Airport began piloting a digital visa-on-arrival process using QR codes. The system simplifies entry procedures for eligible visitors.
The ministry has not announced a specific public launch date for the unified foreign work permit system.
