Recently, an Indian couple has been making waves for their unreal wedding. We are talking about taking vows with the backdrop of the Great Pyramids of Giza. Sounds quite dramatic and whimsical at once, doesn’t it? Well, this is exactly what Vivek Nandha, an investment banker, and Dr Monica Nayyar, who is a cosmetic dentist, experienced during their wedding celebration.
Indian Wedding At Pyramids Of Giza
Following an intimate registry ceremony in London, as mentioned in a report of the Times of India, the largest celebration for the couple took place from September 3rd to 6th in Egypt. The three-day wedding experience involved shutting down the grand pyramids of Giza. It truly felt unreal for them, but did you know their’s have become the first Indian wedding to take place at this historic location? Well, not only that, but they’re also only the third wedding in history that has been granted permission at the Great Pyramids of Giza.
Only The Third Wedding To Be Granted Approval
So, basically, this idea unfolded organically for Vivek, who had travelled to more than 130 countries and had a deep love for history and world cultures. And when the couple began exploring Egypt as a potential destination, they visited the pyramids early in the planning process. Following a months-long coordination with architects, planners, and the Egyptian Government, they had to ensure that the celebrations honour the sanctity, history and spirit of the site. In fact, every little detail needed approval from the government.

A Three-Day-Long Celebration
Working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the event was treated almost like a diplomatic project. Every cultural and logistical detail had to be respected and honoured. Tourists who caught a glimpse of the structure that was being built over 10 days were truly fascinated to learn that the entire plateau had been made private for the wedding. Some even expressed their amazement that an Indian celebration was taking place at the site. Across all four days, the music, fashion, and styling reflected an East-meets-West harmony.
Security was another major pillar, especially with high-profile guests who are driving from across the world. They were also with Egyptian authorities to manage the private entrance, securing the perimeter for transportation of escorts, and, of course, on ground surveillance. Even things like gentle lighting for illuminating the pyramid during the evening celebration had to be coordinated and were sensitive to approval to ensure the sanctity of the site was uncompromised
Well, the big fat Indian wedding just got bigger with this celebration, taking place right at the footsteps of the pyramids, making waves internationally.
