As thunderstorms continue to rage in Saudi Arabia, the National Centre of Meteorology has predicted that these rainfalls may continue until Thursday, December 18th. As revealed in a report of Saudi Expatriates, the weather systems that are moving across the kingdom will bring different levels of rain and will range from light showers to heavy storms. And so, schools have shifted to remote learning.

Rainfall To Continue Until December 18th?

With hail, high winds, and localised flooding, and cases of severe thunderstorms, residents have been asked to stay updated with the weather bulletins. Yes, they were asked to take all the necessary safety measures as NCM has mentioned how the rain will vary by region and time. However, it is expected that the thunderstorm may happen in the central, northern, western, and Southwestern parts of the country.

Here’s What NCM Predicts

Not to mention, it is expected that several regions may receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the week. However, the NCM has further warned against thunderstorms, hail, high sea waves, and valley run off that may affect several regions. So, drivers have been advised to drive carefully, avoid valley and flood-prone areas and even follow the official with the warnings and instructions.

Schools Switch To Remote Learning

It should be noted that the education authorities, as a result, have announced that in-person classes in Riyadh will be suspended on Monday. Yes, schools will be shifting to remote learning as a precautionary measure, as revealed in a report of Saudi Gazette. This is due to the expected adverse weather conditions, as per the reports of NCM.

In fact, according to the official announcement, the public and private schools in Riyadh city and the affiliated governors will be conducting remote classes through the Madrasati platform and other approved educational systems. Other governance includes Al-Majmaah, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Al-Quwayiyah, Afif, Al-Dawadmi, and Shaqra. Not to mention, this decision applies to students and the teaching and administrative staff alike. It comes after the forecast has indicated how the weather systems may be accompanied by strong downdraft winds that make it 60 km/h.
