Recently, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department signed an agreement with Emarat EV Charging Stations Company. This agreement was signed to install electric vehicle charging stations in the parking areas of the mosque across Dubai. The signed agreement also has an option for renewal. So, here’s all you need to know about the development.
IACAD And UAEV Sign Agreement For EV Charging Station Installation
As revealed in the report of the Gulf News, UAEV is developing and operating EV charging infrastructure at selected mosque sites. This project includes the installation of charging stations along with ongoing maintenance, smart payment systems, and performance monitoring. As a result, the mobile application also gives users access to available charging points. As mentioned by the IACAD, the initiative also supports the shift toward integrating sustainable and smart services within the facilities.
Aligning With Dubai’s Broader Smart City Goals
This development aligns with the broader environment and smart city goals of Dubai. In fact, it is expected to expand access to EV charging community locations while supporting the transition to low-emission transport in the country, it should be noted that the infrastructure would also use advanced charging technology and energy management. This comes with the capacity to scale as EV adoption is growing, thereby positioning mosques as a community, which would support sustainable mobility across the emirate.

Other Emirates Are Also Moving Towards Smarter Mobility
The development comes just a few days after the Sharjah Executive Council also issued an important decision. Yes, this was regarding the regulation of electric vehicle charging stations in the emirate, which organised the installation and operation of these stations. With the aim of providing an advanced infrastructure that would be associated with EV charging, this included connection to applications and tariff that would be related to the electric vehicle supply equipment and charging services.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the UAE had inaugurated one of the world’s largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs. The ADNOC Distribution, which is the leading mobility and convenience retailer in the UAE, had announced the launch of the world’s sixth-largest superfast electric vehicle charging hub. Not to mention, it also unveiled its roadmap to electrify the UAE highway network by the end of 2027.
