Travel advisories influence the way individuals perceive destinations. Travellers, airlines, and businesses pay special attention to the updated global safety rankings provided by the United States Department of State. In the recent update, Egypt was rated Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, the category that puts the country in the category of the safest destinations in the Middle East currently.
Egypt Ranked As One Of The Safest Places In The Middle East In US Travel Advisory
The rating only implies that travellers need to be vigilant of their environment, but it does not discourage travelling. As a matter of fact, Egypt is relatively stable in comparison to some of its neighbouring countries, which have been alerted against the threats with a great deal of severity.
According to the report by Egypt Independent, it is retaining the Level II: Exercise Increased Caution classification in a broad-ranging advisory that was issued last Tuesday. The update also noted that Egypt is not among the worst travel restrictions affecting several of its neighbouring countries.
One Of The Stability Outliers In A Tense Region
The recent warning has occurred at a time of tension in various regions of the Middle East. Warfare and other conflicts that happen in a region have affected the air travel logistics and security planning of various nations.
However, Egypt has had a stable security picture. The advisory by the U.S. states that, despite the fact that travellers have always been advised to be alert, as is customary, the country was not raised to the higher alert levels.
Egypt is still a relatively stable tourist destination and international transit.
Some Of The Neighbouring Countries Were Under Do Not Travel Warnings
The same warning represents a much more dangerous scenario in some countries in the region.
There are five countries, which are now on Level IV: Do Not Travel, the most restrictive of the U.S. levels, which include Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
The level basically provides the American citizens with the advice not to go to such countries at all because of the risks associated with safety.
In the meantime, such huge Gulf and regional destinations are at Level III: Reconsider Travel. These are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan and Israel.
Level III also covers the West Bank, and Level IV covers the Gaza Strip.
It is on this background that the Level II position of Egypt is relatively encouraging.

Egypt As A Regional Gateway
The consistent advisory level in Egypt also makes it a hub in the region.
In recent months, air routes in the Gulf and Levant have become disrupted. Under these circumstances, stable countries usually become an important point of transit for travellers, humanitarian efforts, and international corporations.
Egypt is a country at a cross of Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Its major airports, particularly in Cairo have been servicing millions of international travellers annually.
As most of the local destinations have received more severe travel warnings, Egypt is comparatively safe, which may increase its standing as a regional travel and logistics hub.
